The AI Foundations team drives the vision for AI at Capital One, collaborating with product, technology, and business leaders to apply state-of-the-art AI in our business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that transform customer experiences.
  • Utilize a diverse technology stack, including PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning, VectorDBs, and more, to uncover insights from massive volumes of numeric and textual data.
  • Develop AI foundation models through all phases of development, from design to training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
  • Pursue high-impact applied research to integrate the latest AI advancements into next-generation customer experiences.

We seek an exceptional Artificial Intelligence Research Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for:

Essential Qualifications:
  • A PhD or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience in delivering large-scale deep learning models, whether for language, images, events, or graphs.
  • Hands-on experience developing AI foundation models and solutions using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms.
  • A track record of generating high-quality ideas or improving existing ones in machine learning.
Compensation:

The estimated annual salary range for this position varies by location: New York City (Hybrid On-site): $240,000 - $275,000, San Francisco, California (Hybrid On-site): $253,000 - $294,500, San Jose, California (Hybrid On-site): $253,000 - $294,500. Salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within these locations.
