Position Overview:

The Certified Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in our Surgical Services team. This position involves preparing and managing sterile instruments and equipment for surgical interventions. The Surgical Technologist collaborates closely with the surgical team, ensuring adherence to verification processes, assisting during operations, and supporting case closure protocols. In emergency situations, the Surgical Technologist is expected to respond effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage sterile instruments and equipment for surgical interventions.
  • Assist the surgical team with verification and intra-operative procedures.
  • Support the surgical team during closure procedures.
  • Review surgical bookings and align procedures with preference cards.
  • Utilize surgical preference cards accurately for instrument selection.
  • Inspect instruments to ensure sterility, safety, and functionality.
  • Maintain a sterile environment throughout the surgical process.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program is mandatory.
  • Certification as a Tech in Surgery (TS-C) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is essential.
  • New Hampshire Medical Technologist registration is necessary unless another valid NH state license is held.
  • Competency completion is expected within specified timeframes:
    • Basic Life Support within 30 days.
    • Preference card usage, instrument preparation, sterile field maintenance, surgical briefings, safe instrument handling, surgical counts, and instrument inventory and decontamination within 90 days.
