Job Summary
Under the direction of the pullet or production lead, the Animal Welfare Technician will be responsible for completing required documentation and performing tasks as needed. Key Responsibilities include:

Requesting necessary safety supplies, materials, and parts from designated department procurement stakeholders
Ensuring preparedness for DNR or customer audits at all times with proper procedures and documents for all activities
Entering data into DBF spreadsheets
Training animal welfare and security practices
Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

High School diploma, GED, or equivalency preferred
1 year experience in production agricultural environment is preferred

Key Skills and Abilities
Must be self-directed and organized
Ability to track and document all activities with correct forms and paperwork
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Working knowledge of agricultural operations preferred
Ability to interact with individuals from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
Record of good attendance with a flexible schedule
Basic reading, writing, and math skills
Positive attitude and ability to work with a team
Must enjoy working in close contact with animals

Physical Demands
The Animal Welfare Technician will be required to stand and walk constantly, grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 10 pounds frequently. Occasional sitting, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. The work environment will frequently expose the individual to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Temperature variations in relation to the outside temperature and moderate noise levels are expected. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions.
