Application Scientist

Grain Processing Corporation (GPC) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join their internship program as an Application Scientist Intern in the Creative Solutions department.

This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the application of GPC's ingredients, such as starch and maltodextrin, to various products in the food, pharmaceutical, or personal care industry.

The Application Scientist Intern will report to our Application Scientists in the GPC technical development center and work on projects involving the development of formulations and information for the use of GPC's products in a broad array of applications and industries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop experience with GPC ingredients or the application of GPC ingredients in the food, pharmaceutical, and personal care industry
• Assist Application Scientists in the development of formulations and information for the use of GPC's products in a broad array of applications and industries
• Conduct hands-on laboratory testing of processes and materials most commonly found in the food, pharmaceutical, and personal care industries
• Format development information for direct response to customer inquiries and preparation of sales tools
• Collaborate with a variety of individuals to achieve project goals

Requirements:

• Working toward B.Sc. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, Culinary Science, Microbiology, or other science-based curriculum
• Basic understanding of Organic and Analytical Chemistry
• Food laboratory experience including use of laboratory equipment and safe laboratory practices
• Strong written and verbal communications skills including presentation skills
• Proven computer skills
