Key Responsibilities
The Advanced Mammography Imaging Specialist will conduct radiologic and mammographic imaging adhering to ALARA principles. This role requires delivering prompt, efficient, and courteous service to patients while ensuring high-quality radiographs are obtained. The specialist will demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care for patients.

The responsibilities include:

  • Performing mammography, DEXA (as needed), and diagnostic radiography examinations while maintaining current mammography CE credits.
  • Ensuring proper maintenance of imaging equipment and consulting with radiologists as required.
  • Accepting patients, verifying their preparation for exams, and explaining procedures clearly.
  • Reporting equipment malfunctions to supervisors and coordinating service calls as necessary.
  • Conducting quality control on all images, managing inventory, and adhering to safety regulations.

The specialist will rely on extensive anatomical and physiological knowledge to obtain optimal diagnostic images, minimizing the need for repeated exposures.

Safety and Quality Assurance
Participation in all mandatory safety training programs is essential, with the ability to articulate responsibilities related to general safety and specific job-related hazards.

Maintaining an excellent quality of x-ray radiographs with a repeat rate of less than 5% is a critical expectation.

The role involves:

  • Conducting mammography x-ray examinations in accordance with ACR guidelines.
  • Developing x-ray radiographs and evaluating films for technical quality.
  • Preparing and administering medications as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
  • Explaining procedures to patients and addressing any concerns as noted in patient feedback.
  • Transporting patients as needed and providing fluoroscopic assistance to Radiologists.

Professional Development
Enhancing professional growth through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops is encouraged. Maintaining competence through continuing education is essential.

Qualifications
Education:

  • Completion of a formal radiology technology training program from an AMA-approved institution.
  • Compliance with Mammography Quality Standard Act regulations, including 40 hours of documented mammography training.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of prior experience in radiology technology is required.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • NYS Registered as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • ARRT Registered as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • ARRT (M) License.
  • BLS Certification.

Compensation
The salary is based on various factors, including qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation.

Pay Range:
Minimum: USD $36.76/Hr
Maximum: USD $55.13/Hr
