Role Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) will utilize the nursing process and clinical standards to direct, deliver, and coordinate nursing care for patients in the GI department, adhering to the policies and procedures of the GI Lab. Key responsibilities include supervising unlicensed personnel, synthesizing patient data, conducting assessments, planning care interventions, educating patients and families, implementing treatment plans, and evaluating the effectiveness of care provided. The RN must effectively communicate and document relevant patient care information. The RN will incorporate knowledge of patient age, cultural diversity, and psychosocial/spiritual needs into the care plan.

The RN plays a crucial role in promoting quality nursing care through performance improvement initiatives that yield positive patient outcomes. Additionally, the RN collaborates with various professional disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired health outcomes. Participation in the call rotation and cross-training in the pre-op department is also required.

Key Responsibilities

· Employ the nursing process and practice standards as a framework for managing patient care.

· Analyze assessment data to establish nursing diagnoses and appropriate interventions.

· Exhibit effective critical thinking skills.

· Demonstrate leadership in coordinating patient care across the healthcare continuum to meet desired outcomes.

· Delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed personnel.

· Understand and apply clinical information systems for patient documentation.

· Develop teaching plans based on identified patient learning needs and assess their effectiveness; include family members as necessary.

· Serve as a role model and mentor for new staff members.

· Integrate knowledge of job-specific competencies into practice.

· Identify and implement a self-development/professional growth action plan, including peer review.

· Recognize and report subtle and obvious patient issues to appropriate team members or chain of command.

· Address the age-specific needs of all patient populations: adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

· Contribute to a safe and effective working environment.

· Maintain tact, sensitivity, and discretion to foster good relations with others.

· Interact positively and constructively with colleagues.

· Prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.

*Placement in the pay range is determined by various factors, including relevant experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, additional compensation may be available for this role, including shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications
  • Current CA RN license
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • BSN Required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS from the AHA
  • Current CGRN preferred
  • One-year acute care experience in GI Lab and/or Peri-Anesthesia required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
