Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated OB Sonographer to join our team at Denver Health. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality US imaging studies by selecting specific software parameters that will produce a quality image for use by radiologists in their determination of a diagnosis.
- Operate US equipment to produce and record images of the motion, shape, and composition of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses such as fluid accumulations.
- Observe equipment monitor during imaging scan to ensure that the image produced is of diagnostic quality, making adjustments to the equipment as required.
- Select appropriate equipment settings and adjust patient positions to obtain the best sites and angles.
- Operate, on a day-to-day basis, PACS applications to include archiving activities, image auto-routing and pre-fetching tasks, image quality assurance, and other related activities.
- Use Radiology Information System (RIS) system to input patient examination data and to place patient orders (as appropriate).
- Ensure patient safety, comfort, and personal dignity by following appropriate patient care guidelines to include use of 2 patient identifiers.
- Prepare patient for an ultrasound study by explaining the study, transferring this individual to the examination table, applying gel, and positioning the patient appropriately for the US study.
- Verify the physician order and relevant patient's history in the medical chart. Prior to performance of an US examination, consult with the relevant radiologist to obtain a written imaging study protocol.
- Document, as appropriate, all pertinent information on clinical questionnaires.
- Assist in the maintenance of department inventory by ordering, stocking, and performing inventory checks on those medical supplies utilized when performing US examinations.
- Maintain imaging and processing equipment by performing scheduled cleanings and tests; results of all cleanings and tests are documented, as appropriate.
- Contact service personnel and notify supervisory staff of equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain a clean and orderly working environment through wiping down examination tables, changing linens, stocking supplies, and washing/disinfecting US equipment.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree Completion of two year hospital or college echocardiography program accredited by the American Medical Association.
- RDMS-Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
- Preferred Experience performing high-risk (level II) OB ultrasound exams.
- Preferred two years' experience performing OB and GYN Ultrasound exams.
- Preferred experience with screening echoes.
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association.
- RDMS-Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - ARDMS - American Registry in OB/GYN Ultrasound.
