Job Summary:

As a Bookseller at Barnes & Noble, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming environment, and sharing your passion for books with customers. You will be the face of our store, ensuring that every customer has a positive experience. Your knowledge of books, combined with your enthusiasm and communication skills, will make you an asset to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers, share your knowledge of books, and make recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Ensure the store is visually appealing, with well-organized displays and a clean environment.
  • Participate in sales floor activities, including processing transactions, handling customer inquiries, and maintaining store appearance.
  • Support store events, such as author signings, book clubs, and other activities that promote a love of reading.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve sales goals, maintain store standards, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Stay up-to-date on new releases, bestsellers, and staff picks to provide informed recommendations to customers.

Requirements:

  • Possess a passion for books and reading.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitasking and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift boxes, and move merchandise as needed.
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
