Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the delivery of maintenance, reliability, and repeatability in our manufacturing environment. This role provides leadership and direction in maintenance enhancement needs, focusing on improving productivity and minimizing costs and waste while maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Team Management: Oversees maintenance activities, coordinates with workers, and directs the maintenance team in installation and modification for safety, quality, and productivity improvements.
  • Maintenance Planning and Scheduling: Achieves targets for equipment performance, monitors progress, and implements change management when necessary to achieve department and business unit targets. Schedules services and minor repairs to avoid downtime.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Conducts, recommends, and continuously improves a detailed department-specific business plan ensuring all facility assets are properly maintained. This includes effective scheduling of assigned, monitored, and measured corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Budget Management and Inventory Control: Manages maintenance budgets within established guidelines, reviews, edits, and submits purchase orders, and collaborates with the Maintenance Manager and Planner to build a functional, cost-effective inventory and supplies.
  • Facilities and Grounds Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining the facilities, buildings, and grounds in a cost-effective manner that creates a positive image to customers and the community.
  • Emergency Support and Safety: Provides on and off-hour emergency support, including equipment repair, damage control, and assignment of support personnel as needed. Ensures all jobs are executed safely to maintain a safe work environment in compliance with Wieland safety procedures and site safety personnel procedures.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment, 3+ years of experience in progressively responsible management roles, and previous technical supervisory experience demonstrating effective management.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to coordinate projects between departments, and planning a flow of tasks beginning to end. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, communicate at any levels, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, use hands and fingers to handle, touch, or manipulate items, stand for extended periods, walk, and reach with hands or arms. Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch, lift up to 50 pounds, and have vision abilities to include proximate vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
