Radiation Therapist Job Summary

As a Radiation Therapist at UNC Health Care, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our oncology team. Your expertise in radiation therapy will enable you to administer treatments with precision and accuracy, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer radiation therapy treatments to oncology patients, following physician instructions and treatment plans.
  • Assist physicians, radiation oncologists, and clinical physicists in preparing physical and technical aspects of radiation treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate patient and billing records, reports, and files, adhering to department policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine and complex radiation therapy treatments, such as total body irradiation and stereotactic radiosurgery.
  • Prepare equipment and rooms for patient treatments, ensuring safety and quality assurance.
  • Provide on-the-job clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).
  • Radiation Therapy certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Board Eligible (must receive certification within one year of hire).
