Sociology Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant/Associate Professor of Sociology to join our faculty at Alabama A&M University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of sociology courses, advising students, and contributing to the department's research and service activities.

• Teach sociology courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including introductory courses, upper-level electives, and graduate seminars.
• Develop and maintain a research agenda that contributes to the field of sociology and advances the department's research goals.
• Advise students on academic and career choices, including providing guidance on course selection, research opportunities, and career development.
• Participate in departmental and university service activities, including committee work, curriculum development, and community engagement.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement innovative teaching and research initiatives.

• Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field from a regionally accredited university.
• At least 3 years of teaching experience at a four-year degree-granting institution.
• A record of publication in professional journals or ongoing research likely to result in publication in the near future.
• Experience advising students on academic and career choices.

• Experience teaching graduate public administration courses.
• Ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service and develop collaborative relationships throughout the organization.
• Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Suite of Office Applications.
