Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach Geology courses in our Associate in Science Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for course preparation, delivery, grading, and records management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Geology courses as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, ensuring students meet course objectives.
  • Enforce academic policies and procedures, and comply with institutional rules and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and complete course and student records.
  • Stay current with developments in the field of Geology.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, or President.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Geology or a related field, with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Geology.
  • Successful experience teaching science at a university or community college is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to the mission and philosophy of the North Carolina Community College System.
  • Knowledge of equitable teaching practices in Geology.
  • Demonstrated ability to use modern instructional technology and experience with Internet-based instruction.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a focus on effective teaching.
  • Sensitivity to the needs and expectations of students, colleagues, and community groups.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time, adjunct position. Contracted hours may not exceed an average of 12 contact hours (28 working hours) per week, per semester, across all departments at the college.
