Job Overview

THOR Solutions is seeking a dedicated Financial Analyst to provide essential support to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT). The role involves assisting government clients with a variety of financial tasks, including the preparation of funding documentation, financial data analysis, and the generation of regular reports.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft and manage Funding Document acceptance paperwork for program managers and financial departments.
  • Compile outgoing Funding Documents for governmental assessment and sanction.
  • Examine financial data to pinpoint discrepancies and irregularities in project execution, such as labor charges and non-labor cost reporting.
  • Generate weekly Expenditure Reports that evaluate funding obligations and expenditures against established benchmarks.
  • Conduct fiscal year closeout and initiation analyses, including the impacts of Continuing Resolutions on project strategies.
  • Prepare documentation for Funding Document modifications based on government feedback.
  • Offer financial management assistance related to Service Cost Centers, including monthly Year-End Projections and identification of financial challenges.
  • Investigate and determine root causes and corrective measures for rejected financial transaction records.
  • Address inquiries related to Funding Document transactions.
  • Review and provide feedback on draft Purchase Requisition documents.
  • Assist and mentor fellow financial analysts and support staff in specialized areas.

Security Clearance Requirement: This position necessitates a DoD Secret security clearance. Candidates must either hold an active or interim Secret security clearance or be eligible for one upon hiring.

Work Environment:

This role is full-time and requires on-site presence at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT).


Physical Demands:

Primarily involves desk and computer work in an office setting, which may include repetitive motions.


Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in finance or a closely related field is required. Relevant experience or vocational training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in finance and accounting is necessary. Experience within a U.S. Navy, DOD, or federal environment is preferred.
  • Experience should include:
    • Transaction review, processing, and correction.
    • Data entry error investigation.
    • Program financial management.
    • Budgeting and reporting methodologies.
  • Familiarity with the Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (N-ERP) system in a financial capacity is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in standard productivity software, particularly the Microsoft Office suite, with strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication abilities are essential.
