About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Specialist to join our team at JT Wimsatt Contracting Company Inc. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being of our employees and the success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Present safety training and orientations to new hires and transfer personnel, ensuring they understand our safety protocols and expectations.
  • Conduct thorough accident and injury investigations, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate site safety records, ensuring compliance with CAL OSHA standards.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to employees on health and safety topics, promoting a culture of safety awareness.
  • Ensure all employees consistently follow established safety protocols, identifying and addressing any deviations or concerns.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee safety inquiries, concerns, and suggestions, fostering open communication and collaboration.
  • Attend safety meetings, walks, and inspections to analyze safety risks and identify areas for improvement.
  • Educate employees on safety standards and expectations, promoting a culture of safety excellence.
  • Review and recommend changes to improve regular activities, staying up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of safety-related experience, with a strong understanding of OSHA guidelines and other federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Public Health, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • OSHA 30 certification within the past 3 years, with experience in the construction industry a plus.
  • Strong work ethic, teamwork capabilities, and ability to interact with different stakeholders, including project management, general contractors, and superintendents.
  • Solid written, verbal, and presentation skills, with strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT).
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
