Position Overview
As a key member of the Chicago Public Schools team, the school psychologist plays a vital role in supporting students' academic and emotional growth. Under the direction of the Office of Specialized Services, this position assists students by screening for early intervention and identification, administering diagnostic and curriculum-based assessments, and providing crisis intervention and individual/group intervention services. The school psychologist also conducts professional development and training for teachers, administrators, and other school personnel, and provides consultative services related to instruction and social/emotional learning and behavior.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' strengths and areas of need.
• Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to support students' academic and emotional growth.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to provide support and resources for students.
• Provide crisis intervention and individual/group intervention services to support students' mental health and well-being.
• Conduct professional development and training for teachers, administrators, and other school personnel on topics such as instructional strategies, social/emotional learning, and crisis intervention.
Requirements
Applicants must have a master's degree in school psychology from an accredited college or university and hold a valid Type 73 State of Illinois School Service Personnel Certificate with an Endorsement in School Psychology. A current registration date on the certificate is required.
