A well-established structural steel fabrication company, is seeking a motivated individual with experience in structural steel fabrication and erection to fill a Project Engineer Trainee role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for determining and defining the scope of work and deliverables, predicting resources needed to complete projects, obtaining necessary permits and approvals, and managing costs to meet budget.
Additional responsibilities include providing direction over contracts and subcontracts, coordinating production schedules and requirements with the shop, managing delivery schedules and activities, and ensuring work is done in compliance with all relevant building and safety codes.
The ideal candidate will have a 4-year degree in Engineering or a construction-related field and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Additional training in skills such as reading and comprehending plans, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts, and related construction documents will be provided.
The Project Engineer Trainee will work independently and exercise sound judgment, with the ability to work effectively across entire projects between architects, designers, engineers, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine and define scope of work and deliverables
- Predict resources needed to complete project
- Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory prerequisites
- Manage costs in order to meet budget
- Provide direction over contracts and subcontracts
- Coordinate production schedules and requirements with shop
- Manage delivery schedule and activities
- Issue progress updates as needed regarding costs and timelines
- Ensure work is done in compliance with all relevant building and safety codes
- Select and manage subcontractor and supplier relationships
- Coordinate efforts across entire project between architects, designers, engineers, and subcontractors
Requirements:
- 4-year degree in Engineering or a construction-related field
- Ability to read and comprehend plans, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts, and related construction documents
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
