About the Role

Lightmatter is seeking a highly skilled Optical Systems Engineer to join our Product Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing novel wafer and package level testing strategies for our Silicon Photonics products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement testing strategies for laser/photonics products, ensuring high-quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement testing protocols, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain testing equipment, including optical test systems, and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Work with vendors to procure equipment and materials, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
  • Process and analyze test data, preparing reports and presenting findings to the team.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including tester documentation and technical reports.
  • Support existing testers by performing troubleshooting, creating new product recipes, and maintaining spare parts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a lab setting with a solid understanding of laser systems, optical components, and related technologies.
  • Experience using optical test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, interferometers, and photodetectors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and fix issues with laser systems and test setups.
  • Understanding of industry regulations and standards that pertain to laser testing and safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic scripting (Python/Perl) for data analysis is highly desirable.
