Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity and Cloud Expert to join our team at In-Q-Tel (IQT). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and software engineering. This role is part of our Project Engineering team, which provides technical direction and engineering implementation guidance to startups that are part of IQT's strategic investment portfolio.

The successful candidate will oversee the design, development, testing, migration, installation, deployment, maintenance, and support of various hardware and software technologies, including cloud infrastructure, AI/ML applications, geospatial analytic tools, data analytics platforms, large-scale data systems, and more.

This position requires a high degree of analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also essential, as the candidate will interact regularly with government partners, portfolio companies, and across IQT.

Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Oversee the engineering design, development, implementation, and execution of 12-18 concurrent projects.">
  • Advise on the capture and translation of mission and government customer requirements/needs into system-level requirements.">
  • Oversee requirements analysis, design implementation planning, integration and test, documentation, installation, and deployment of the technologies.">
  • Review and evaluate portfolio companies' products and/or services to determine whether it is functional using systems engineering principles, including verification of contractual requirements.">
  • Monitor and react to any technical concerns or feedback throughout the work program, while translating critical technical risks/issues into an actionable plan as they arise.">
  • Facilitate government evaluation of technology by proactively planning for solution transfer efforts, advising government users throughout a pilot of technology, and providing recommendations about operational support.">
  • Support the continual improvement of PE processes and tools to accomplish analysis, problem diagnosis and solution design, integration and test preparation, risk assessment and mitigation planning, and related activities.">
  • Set up, configure, deploy, and operate AWS environments for testing of software products.">
  • Identify multi-cloud, multi-agency collaborative activities that require navigating agency-specific policy requirements and advising government stakeholders on best practices.">
  • Provide support for development in or transition to the cloud. Includes supporting implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of startup software products in government-owned private cloud environments.">

Qualifications:

  • ">
  • Due to contractual reasons, U.S. Citizenship is required.">
  • S. or M.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.">
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.">
  • 3+ years of professional experience with ideally 2+ years working with cloud services - Amazon Web Services (AWS) preferred.">
  • Familiarity with cloud resource conventions, permissions model, storage mechanisms, and networking models.">
  • Ability to take and pass AWS certification exam (Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer certification); paid for by IQT.">
  • Experience with containerization/orchestration solutions, including Docker and Kubernetes.">
  • Comfort working in a *nix environments (RHEL preferred).">
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (VPNs, DNS, TCP/IP, etc)">
  • Understanding of security stack infrastructure (WAFs, Firewall rules, network security groups, Virtual Networks, Subnets, routing tables)">
  • Eagerness and willing to learn new domains and technologies across the entire hardware and software spectrum.">
  • Passion for supporting the US National Security mission.">
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task and support multiple priorities.">
  • Strong interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders and manage expectations.">
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; PEs interact regularly with government partners, portfolio companies, and across IQT.">
  • A meticulous eye for detail and being a self-starter with a collaborative mindset.">
  • Candidates must meet eligibility requirements for a U.S. top-secret clearance.">
