Position Overview: The Clinical Nursing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and guiding clinical operations across the hospital to ensure the delivery of high-quality care for both inpatient and residential clients. This role involves collaboration with charge RNs in inpatient settings and charge Mental Health Workers in residential environments to effectively address the medical, psychological, and social needs of each patient or resident.
Qualifications:
- Active Vermont RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in Vermont. A Master's degree in nursing is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in behavioral health, with at least two years in a management capacity.
- Proficient in computer use, including familiarity with PC environments, typing, email communication, and the ability to prepare formatted reports for executives, managers, and clinicians regarding previous shift data and events.
- Demonstrated ability to triage effectively and solve problems.
- Proven skills in physical assessment, nursing care, and theoretical knowledge, along with the ability to evaluate patients or residents following physical holds, locked-door seclusions, or involuntary medication events.
Key Responsibilities:

Establish and pursue goals and objectives for evening or weekend shifts that align with the organization's mission.
Ensure a workplace culture that prioritizes patient care and safety, minimizing the risk of healthcare errors.
Foster a customer service-oriented environment in all interactions with patients, visitors, staff, and vendors.
Collaborate with hospital staff to facilitate appropriate decision-making in response to emerging challenges.
Deliver comprehensive verbal and written handoffs to relevant managers.
Communicate critical information regarding incidents and sentinel events to the appropriate authorities.
Encourage, recognize, and guide staff through ongoing coaching and feedback.
Respond to behavioral emergencies within residential units, obtaining necessary orders for certificates of need (CON) when required, and complete post-event evaluations of residents.
Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual.
Complete mandatory education and e-learning courses to enhance skills and maintain professional development.
