Accountable for managing pharmacy systems to gather patient and medication data and process prescriptions.
Under the guidance of a pharmacist, supervises pharmacy technicians and cashiers while adhering to company policies, legal standards, and ethical practices.
Responsible for the recruitment, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician staff. Leads training initiatives, coaching, and performance evaluations of pharmacy technicians. Makes decisions regarding performance management, including disciplinary actions and terminations.Customer Engagement
Interacts with customers and patients by welcoming them and providing assistance with products and services.
Addresses customer complaints, responds to inquiries promptly, and answers non-clinical questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
Demonstrates and shares best practices in customer service.
Builds strong relationships with customers by anticipating their needs and proactively offering services to enhance their experience in the pharmacy.
Operational Responsibilities
Assists the pharmacist in delivering patient care, including patient registration, prescription data entry, and medication preparation, including counting and verifying (as permitted by law).
With the pharmacist's oversight, supports healthcare service offerings such as administering vaccines and conducting health screenings.
Within the framework of authorized company policies and legal regulations, exercises independent judgment to delegate and assign non-clinical tasks in the pharmacy.
At the direction of the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist, prepares and submits reports and records required by the company and regulatory agencies.
Under the pharmacist's supervision, exercises independent judgment to ensure compliance with all business administrative activities and pharmacy inventory management tasks that do not require pharmacist licensure.
Responsible for completing non-clinical patient communications.
Champions new technology and process implementations, engages the team in action planning, and ensures proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy equipment. Collaborates with the Pharmacy Manager to manage recordkeeping and security measures.
Under the pharmacist's supervision, strictly adheres to company policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription-dispensing activities and understands their role in ensuring compliance with Good Faith Dispensing standards. Maintains knowledge of company asset protection techniques.
Supports the Pharmacy Manager in monitoring for diversion and reports any security concerns to the Pharmacy Manager.
Communicates prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and follows company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
Assists and collaborates with the Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financial performance, operational quality, and customer service.
Manages the Community Outreach Portal and coordinates, under the Pharmacy Manager's direction, the assignment of pharmacists to off-site immunization clinics and community events.
Team Leadership and Performance Management
Leads performance management for pharmacy technicians, including making decisions and recommendations regarding disciplinary actions. Utilizes constructive discipline policies to address performance issues effectively. Holds technicians accountable for attendance and punctuality. Enhances pharmacy performance through team engagement and strategic action planning.
Responsible for technician recruitment, onboarding, training, and scheduling. Monitors and ensures timely completion of training for pharmacy technicians. Adheres to established company policies for scheduling and training.
Accountable for identifying knowledge gaps in pharmacy operations among team members and providing support through hands-on training or learning module assignments.
Assists the Pharmacy Manager in ensuring that all pharmacy and team member licenses, registrations, and certifications are current and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Ensures adherence to proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training as mandated by company policy and local, state, and federal laws.
Maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state-required certification/registration.
Continually enhances knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.
Obtains necessary certifications, education credits, and training as required by the company. Engages in performance improvement plans as directed by the Pharmacy Manager.
Seeks professional growth by monitoring personal performance, soliciting constructive feedback, and utilizing the Healthcare Supervisor as a mentor and coach.
Communicates effectively with the pharmacy team, relaying important messages from the support center or other key communications as necessary.
Participates in essential store/pharmacy meetings, including brief daily meetings and weekly check-ins with the Store Manager.
