Summary:

The Dietitian/Co-Director role at Northern Light Acadia Hospital is focused on managing Clinical Nutrition Services and sharing leadership responsibilities within the department. Key duties include assessing and formulating dietary plans for patients, educating clients and their families on nutritional guidelines, and collaborating with the Food Service Manager/Co-Director to enhance service quality and uphold safety protocols. This position reports to the VP of Patient Care Services and receives ongoing clinical guidance from a Registered Dietitian. The Dietitian/Co-Director also acts as a liaison among Nursing, Medicine, and Pharmacy departments.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and address educational requirements
  • Create programs and revise patient education materials
  • Maintain competencies appropriate for various age groups
  • Establish clear policies and procedures
  • Provide training and continuing education for dietary staff
  • Resolve client concerns and deliver necessary education
  • Ensure precise diet calculations and order processing
  • Engage in team meetings and quality enhancement initiatives
  • Prepare budgets, evaluate menu cycles, and advocate for healthy food selections
  • Participate in safety and sanitation compliance
Competencies and Skills:
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Proven integrity, adaptability, effective communication, accountability, compassion, and resource management abilities
Credentials:
  • Required Dietitian certification
Education:
  • Required Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline
Working Conditions:
  • Exposure to diverse scenarios, computer tasks, lifting, and extended periods of sitting
