Psychiatrist - Assistant Professor

The West Virginia University Health System seeks a Psychiatrist to join its team at Sharpe Hospital in Weston, WV. The successful candidate will practice in the area of psychiatry, providing excellent patient care and being actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia's largest health system and the state's largest employer. The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others.

The Health System operates West Virginia's first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Children's Hospital in September 2022.

Anchored by a 700-bed academic medical center in Morgantown, the Health System includes more than 20 member hospitals that collectively serve a multi-state region that includes West Virginia, Western Maryland, Eastern Ohio, and Southwestern Pennsylvania.

The successful candidate will be expected to practice at Sharpe Hospital, a 150-bed, fully-accredited state psychiatric hospital and winner of an APA State/University collaboration award. The hospital provides treatment of involuntarily committed adults with a variety of diagnoses and has a dynamic forensic psychiatry program.

The successful candidate will be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and will be expected to practice in the area of psychiatry. The successful candidate will be eligible for state medical license and must have completed a psychiatry residency program and be board certified/eligible in psychiatry.
