Liability Claims Specialist
Position Overview: The Liability Claims Specialist plays a crucial role in collaborating with our third-party claims administrator and insurance providers to guide the claims investigation process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate claims regarding liability, causation, and damages to formulate a resolution strategy.
- Focus on various claims types including general liability, product liability, auto liability, cargo claims, and property claims.
- Engage with the third-party administrator (TPA) to ensure compliance with customer service protocols during interviews and information gathering.
- Review insurance policies to confirm applicable coverage and limits.
- Oversee the TPA file to ensure effective action plans are in place for timely resolution of claims.
- Maintain accurate reserves and financial data within established authority limits.
- Document all activities in the RiskConsole claims software system, ensuring a paperless environment.
- Coordinate with Quality Control for product testing to identify potential defects related to claims.
- Manage litigated claims in partnership with both internal and external legal counsel.
- Resolve claims efficiently, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed prior to closure.
- Build and sustain professional relationships with vendors, including legal and investigative firms.
- Understand and apply relevant state laws and procedures in claims management.
- Participate in regular claims review meetings and assist in data analysis for reporting purposes.
- Support management in developing streamlined claims handling procedures.
- Attend relevant training sessions and conferences as required.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the mid-level position should have:
- A Bachelor's degree with two years of liability claims experience, or
- A high school diploma with five years of liability claims experience.
The ideal candidate for the senior position should have:
- A Bachelor's degree with four years of liability claims experience, or
- A high school diploma with seven years of liability claims experience.
Core Competencies:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in managing complex liability claims.
- Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with advanced industry terminology and claims software systems.
- Understanding of multi-state liability laws and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work collaboratively.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.
