Position Overview

The Capital Project Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of construction projects. This position is responsible for the preparation and issuance of cash flow forecasts on a monthly and quarterly basis to support the capital construction team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Forecasting: Develop and distribute monthly, quarterly, and total project funding forecasts to the capital construction team.
  • Budget Management: Oversee and control the capital project budget and expenditures at the work breakdown structure (WBS) level.
  • WBS Creation: Establish WBS codes and ensure alignment with project scope.
  • Approval Processes: Validate and authorize purchase requisitions and change orders.
  • Invoice Review: Examine all project invoices, ensuring proper coding by junior technical staff before forwarding to accounts payable.
  • Contractor Oversight: Where applicable, monitor and report on contractor buyout of subcontract bid packages.
  • Cost Meetings: Schedule and lead regular meetings to discuss budget alignment, spending, and change order status with contractors and engineering teams.
  • Change Order Management: Manage, validate, and track change orders effectively.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct monthly spend versus forecast variance analysis to maintain spending within acceptable limits.
  • Risk Assessment: Perform risk and opportunity analysis to identify potential financial impacts.
  • Reporting: Generate ad hoc reports and analyses as required.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to reporting standards and corporate finance policies.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in finance, quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in financial management within construction projects.
  • Strong skills in cost management, scheduling, and project planning.
  • Experience in developing budgets, cash flows, and financial forecasts.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification is preferred.
  • Experience in semiconductor, commercial, industrial, or refinery projects is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a clear and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software, including SAP, PowerBI, and cost management applications.
  • Advanced Excel skills are preferred.
