Nurse Practitioner-Corrections Specialist

This position provides primary, acute, and/or behavioral healthcare services for specific populations in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. The role involves a rotation of shifts, including weekends and holidays, and requires effective communication and coordination with patients, families, community health services, and interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides patient care, including recording medical history, physical assessment, developing therapeutic care plans, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting results, and providing accurate medical record documentation.
Communicates and coordinates patient care with patients, families, community health services, and interdisciplinary teams.
Prepares written prescription orders, administers medication and injections, sutures wounds, and provides wound care.
Educates patients and family members regarding health and preventive medicine, medications prescribed, treatment instructions, and recommends community resources as appropriate.
Triages patient telephone calls, provides monitoring, and continuity of care.
Participates in performance and quality improvement initiatives, ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, and serves as a clinical expert and resource.
Qualifications:
MSN from a State Board of Nursing-approved Master's Program
National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
Current State Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner License
Current State RN License
Prescriptive Authority from the practicing state within 60 days of hire
Drug Enforcement Agency Licensure within 60 days of hire
CPR - American Heart Association
Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
