Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled attorney to join our team as Associate Counsel to the Audit, Inspections, and Investigations Staffs of the Office of Inspector General (OIG). As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and guidance to senior government officials.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing research, analysis, and resolutions in a wide range of legal areas, including statutory interpretation, congressional oversight, constitutional principles, federal criminal law and procedure, Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act matters, procurement and fiscal law, conflicts of interest, and ethics.
  • Reviewing and commenting on proposed legislation and interacting with other IGs, the Department of Justice, and Congress.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • A Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association (ABA)-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Bar of one of the fifty states or the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience practicing law.
  • Demonstrated excellence in research and writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with others to achieve effective and proactive resolution of legal and policy issues.

Salary Estimate: $160,000 - $200,000 per year
