Khan Lab School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of College Counseling to enhance our college counseling program for Upper School students. This role is essential in navigating students through the complexities of the college admissions landscape and supporting them in making informed choices regarding their academic futures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute a holistic college counseling program for approximately 20 students each year.
  • Provide tailored support to students and their families throughout the college application journey.
  • Stay informed on the latest trends and best practices in college admissions.
  • Coordinate college visits, informational sessions, and workshops to enrich student knowledge.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to foster students' academic and extracurricular growth.
  • Assist in the preparation of college application materials, including transcripts and recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with college admissions offices.
  • Teach a humanities course, ideally focusing on Senior Seminar.
  • Lead a school-focused initiative, preferably the Community Engagement Program.
  • Work with a Data Manager to ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure that records reflect mastery-based learning without traditional grading.
  • Conduct a weekly college counseling course.
  • Support the dual enrollment program with local colleges.
  • Oversee the testing program, advising students and families on standardized exams.
  • Draft official letters of recommendation for seniors.
  • Guide students in course selection to meet graduation and college admission criteria.
  • Provide academic advising for upperclassmen.
  • Engage with visiting college representatives.
  • Participate in professional organizations for continuous development.
  • Utilize application management software to oversee college applications.
  • Serve as a faculty advisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in college counseling or admissions.
  • Deep understanding of the college application process and current higher education trends.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to educational innovation and alignment with the mission of Khan Lab School.
  • Familiarity with college planning software.

Compensation and Benefits
