ESL Instructor

Job Title: ESL Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified ESL Teacher to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing instructional support for English Learners (EL) grades K-12, including testing, developing instructional plans, and providing information for district/state/federal reports.

Responsibilities:

* Assist schools in providing instructional support for English Learners (EL) grades K-12
* Provide ESL instruction to classes, small groups, and individual students
* Provide support and training for content area teachers of ELs in assigned schools
* Facilitate contacts and interactions between the student's home and the school
* Participate in monthly training/planning sessions with other EL teachers

Requirements:

* Current Alabama Teacher's Certification, Bachelor's Degree or higher in ESL, Foreign Language, English, or Elementary Education
* Preference will be given to applicants with at least three years successful teaching experience
* Preferred background experience in Bilingual Education, Linguistics, or Teaching English as a Second Language
* Preference will be given to applicants fluent in Korean or Spanish as well as applicants with reading, speech pathology, or special education backgrounds
* Strong oral and written communication skills
