Job Summary:

The Field Mechanic will provide maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of various types of mobile heavy equipment in locations throughout Montana. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment systems and the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work under supervision of Project Superintendent
  • Troubleshoot and identify equipment malfunctions or maintenance repairs
  • Provide professional/technical advice to operators concerning issues with equipment operations
  • Provide professional/technical advice to the Maintenance Manager and Project Superintendent
  • Respond to and address nonfunctional equipment working after hours as necessary
  • Complete regular inspections
  • Tune and configure equipment for optimal utilization and efficiency
  • Correctly complete maintenance logs and reports
  • Complete responsibilities in a congenial and collaborative manner with co-workers
  • Maintain and promote a clean and safe work environment and culture
  • Travel to outlying areas may be required and positions may occasionally be required to stay overnight
  • Complete and submit all paperwork in a timely manner
Job Competencies:
  • Class A Commercial driver's license with Tanker and Hazardous Material endorsement preferred
  • Training provided by employer for non-CDL holders
  • Display an uncompromising focus on safety by properly following company policies and MSHA/DOT/DEQ regulations for safe working procedures and protection of the environment
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
  • Be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
  • Must require minimal supervision
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Maintain a clean driving record
