Job Summary

The Grant Writer - Program Development Specialist will be responsible for facilitating the preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performing professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing, and responding to public and private grant opportunities to support existing and planned program activities or special institutional programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and write grant proposals to meet organizational needs as directed by management and leadership.
  • Research and identify funding sources, ensure compliance with codes and regulations, draft proposal applications, and monitor their status during and after submission.
  • Communicate, coordinate, and cooperate closely with organizational members to facilitate proposal development.
  • Communicate with Tribal grant writers and work closely with appropriate personnel to determine goals and objectives, scope, feasibility, and funding needs for programs.
  • Maintain a report deadline calendar and a database of information about funding sources, areas of interest, requirements for funding, status of funding requests, funding received, and contact information.
  • Maintain a grant application table for all Programs/Departments.
  • Gather and maintain files of all grants (researched, submitted), funded or not funded, electronically and in paper files, including award notices, grant tracking, and all related correspondence.
  • Follow all internal and external grant policies and procedures for grant approval and submission.
  • Review the application process with the Trant Team after submission and the application scoring results once received.
  • Maintain GLITC accounts in various Grant application portals.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Engage in ongoing networking activities to remain current on the availability of services to Native Americans.
  • Assure that all services are delivered in a culturally competent manner.
  • Participate on committees, both internally and externally, as deemed necessary and appropriate.
  • Attend all training sessions and meetings as scheduled.
  • Attend conferences, seminars, workshops, and other education events to remain current on technological and informational advances as applicable.
  • Assist with the development of the Funding Framework for the GLITC Strategic Plan.
  • Conduct Grant-related training as requested.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Communications, English, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of grant writing and funding experience.
  • Desirable experience with a Native American Tribal organization and/or not-for-profit agency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
