Position Overview

The Ultrasound Technologist I plays a crucial role in performing diagnostic imaging procedures to assist in the identification of various medical conditions. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of ultrasound technology and patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Diagnostic Procedures: Execute all ultrasound examinations competently within the Radiology Department.
  2. Equipment Proficiency: Demonstrate full technical capability in operating all ultrasound machinery.
  3. Patient Assessment: Evaluate patient conditions, review medical orders, and confirm the purpose of the examination, ensuring all relevant patient information is documented.
  4. Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for procedures, addressing any inquiries and effectively communicating with supervising radiologists regarding specific instructions.
  5. Record Keeping: Ensure timely and accurate documentation of examination times in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  6. Safety Protocols: Maintain a safe environment adhering to infection control guidelines and patient safety standards.
  7. Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of care and timeliness of exams, striving for continuous improvement and performing quality checks prior to radiologist review.
  8. Education Participation: Engage in the clinical training of student sonographers.
  9. Performance Improvement: Actively contribute to departmental performance enhancement initiatives.
Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited Sonography program. Preferred qualifications include ARRT (Sonography) or ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS). New graduates may apply if registered or registry eligible, with a requirement to obtain registration within 12 months of employment.

Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required.

Skills: Must exhibit technical expertise in diagnostic and vascular sonography, possess strong interpersonal communication skills, and demonstrate compassionate patient care across all age groups.

Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate effectively, demonstrate dexterity and visual acuity, and maintain mobility for various tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
