Position Overview

Salary: $45,000+ (commensurate with experience and qualifications)

Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is a distinguished educational institution dedicated to providing a comprehensive academic environment that integrates behavioral support services for students facing emotional and behavioral challenges. We are currently seeking a Creative Music Educator to join our team.

OBJECTIVE

The primary aim of this role is to deliver music education to all students while collaborating with school staff to enhance the quality and appreciation of music instruction. The educator will foster students' enjoyment, understanding, and performance of music through a diverse range of planned musical activities, including singing, movement, instrumental play, and listening.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instructs general music concepts, including harmony, appreciation, history, and ensemble participation.
  • Employs a repertoire of various music literature, both traditional and contemporary, suitable for the age and skill levels of students.
  • Adapts the music curriculum to cater to the unique needs of individual students and the collective student body.
  • Designs a well-rounded music program and organizes daily class time to ensure effective preparation, rehearsal, and instruction.
  • Develops and enhances the music curriculum in alignment with NAfME's standards for creating, performing, and responding.
  • Establishes and upholds standards of student behavior to maintain an orderly and productive environment during practices, group rehearsals, and performances.
  • Assesses each student's musical development and their contributions to group performances, ensuring inclusivity.
  • Maintains clear communication with parents and school faculty regarding individual student progress.
  • Ensures proper care and responsibility for school-owned musical instruments and equipment to prevent loss or damage.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Music or Music Education is required.
  • Possession of a valid PA Teaching Certificate for Music Education.
