Role Summary:

The Engineering Technician specializing in Extrusion is responsible for delivering technical assistance in the extrusion of medical tubing. This role involves the extrusion process, blending resins and colorants, and responding to engineering inquiries. The technician will ensure the production of medical-grade extruded tubing is conducted safely and efficiently, focusing on quality enhancement and waste reduction to meet production timelines. Responsibilities include operating, cleaning, and maintaining equipment, as well as documenting work processes. The technician may also engage in new product development, process improvements, and training initiatives. Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and GMP standards is essential, along with involvement in quality projects related to tubing extrusion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes technical knowledge and practices to address manufacturing and research challenges, ranging from basic to complex.
  • Conducts setup, testing, repair, inspection, and maintenance of equipment and materials specific to the area.
  • Diagnoses and resolves issues through the interpretation of procedures and practices, analyzing data to identify trends.
  • Collects, organizes, and records data, contributing to engineering and validation studies while updating relevant documentation.
  • Plans and prioritizes daily tasks to adhere to established schedules and project requirements.
  • Collaborates effectively with team members and communicates with internal stakeholders, as well as external vendors when necessary.
Candidate Qualifications:

• A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in medical extrusion is required.

• Educational background equivalent to a High School Diploma is necessary.

• Preferred experience includes three years in engineering within the Medical Device sector.

• Familiarity with technical drawings and various tubing types.

• Understanding of plastic materials and statistical methods.

• Experience with lean tools for process enhancement.

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is advantageous.
