Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Surgical unit operates within the framework of the nursing process to deliver professional nursing care. This role emphasizes patient-family centered care principles, which include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and discharging patients effectively. The RN is responsible for providing high-quality patient care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Corewell Health policies and procedures, and understanding the significance of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on health outcomes.

Qualifications Required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing is mandatory.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required within five years of hire.
- Candidates from non-accredited nursing programs must possess at least one year of acute care experience or two years in a licensed healthcare role, along with successful completion of the NCLEX licensure examination.
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license is essential.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC is required upon hire.
- Specialty certification is highly recommended within two years of employment.
Work Environment
This position is based in the Surgical Care Unit, where teamwork and collaboration are paramount. The RN will engage with patients and their families to develop individualized care plans that promote optimal health outcomes.
