Early Childhood Education Specialist

Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Education Specialist to lead our Early Childhood Program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate early childhood classroom experience for children enrolled in our Early ECEAP program.
Key Responsibilities- Classroom Environment
- Establish a safe and healthy environment for children to learn and grow.
- Maintain inventory and upkeep of classroom supplies and materials.
- Report needed repairs and maintenance to appropriate personnel.
- Curriculum Planning
- Develop and implement a curriculum that promotes learning and development in children.
- Establish a learning environment that builds and enhances each child's self-esteem and positive self-concept.
- Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, creativity, exploration, and problem-solving.
- Family Support
- Plan and promote family involvement in the program.
- Maintain open and friendly communication with each child's family.
- Provide parents with information, resources, and referrals as needed.
- Team Collaboration
- Supervise and delegate duties to classroom staff.
- Initiate training and encourage teamwork among adults in the room and center.
- Evaluate teaching assistants' performance.
- Professional Development
- Participate in required training and share information with other staff as requested.
- Participate in scheduled supervision, required meetings, and retreats.
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development or Early Childhood Education, preferred.
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Development required or Professional Development Plan.
- Experience
- 3 or more years of experience in teaching birth to 3 years of age in an Early Childhood program.
- Skills
- Demonstrate professional and effective verbal and written communication.
- Use of good judgment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Supervision of adults, classroom planning, and management skills.
- Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and staff.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
- Licensure and Certification
- Valid First Aid and CPR.
- Valid Food Handlers Card.
- Valid Washington State driver's license and agency required liability insurance.
