At Children's Health, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and creating a positive work environment for our team members. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Paramedic to join our Emergency Department team.
Job Summary:The Senior Paramedic will work under the delegation and direct supervision of a licensed physician, providing care to patients in the BLS or ALS category. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:- Perform BLS and advanced skills during patient care, including initiation of PIV catheters, priming IV fluids, naso/oral/pharyngeal suctioning, and insertion of NG/OG tubes.
- Assist in emergency situations by initiating BLS and ALS life-saving skills, assisting with chest compressions.
- Document patient care in the electronic medical record, adhering to department and hospital guidelines.
- Administer approved medications per physician order or protocol.
- Apply family and patient-centered care to all job aspects, supporting families during all phases of care.
- Assist in the training and development of new staff, providing objective feedback to team leaders/ managers.
- Participate in meetings, committees, and maintain all required training.
- Transport patients to procedures in adherence to hospital policy.
- At least 2 years of job-related experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in an acute care/emergency setting (preferred).
- At least 1 year of pediatric experience (preferred).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school (required).
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (required).
- Either Texas EMT-P license or Texas LP licensure (required).
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification (180 days required).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (180 days required).
- PPMAB certification (60 days required).
- Any one of: BTLS, ITLS, or PHTLS certification (180 days preferred).
