Position Title: Mental Health Counselor at The University of Tulsa

This role is essential in delivering mental health support to the university community, particularly for those affected by interpersonal violence. The ideal candidate should have the requisite training, experience, and a commitment to addressing trauma-related clinical matters. Acting as a primary service provider for referrals from the Title IX Coordinator and the on-campus Victims Advocate, the Counselor will work in collaboration with various university departments to ensure that trauma-informed care is a fundamental aspect of campus services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting clinical assessments with students
  • Providing individual, couples, and group therapy sessions
  • Administering psychological evaluations and participating in after-hours emergency response
  • Assessing treatment outcomes
  • Engaging in outreach initiatives and community involvement
  • Supervising and mentoring graduate-level psychology trainees
  • Collaborating on research projects and student-led initiatives
  • Building relationships across campus departments
  • Participating in ongoing professional development in trauma-informed practices

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or social work
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Eligibility for licensure within one year of employment
  • Proven skills in trauma-informed therapy and crisis intervention
  • Understanding of professional ethics and legal standards
  • Cultural competence and humility
  • Experience providing services to individuals impacted by trauma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of post-licensure clinical experience
  • Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology
  • Licensure as a Health Service Psychologist
  • Previous experience in a university counseling setting
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems
  • Experience in public speaking engagements
  • Background in addressing a diverse range of clinical challenges

Physical Requirements:

  • Typing/Keyboarding: Proficient in typing and utilizing computer systems
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Reaching: Capability to retrieve items from storage areas
  • Manual Dexterity: Skillful in operating office machinery and performing tasks
