We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in the Intensive Care Unit at Trinity Health. As a Critical Care Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to ensure the highest level of quality and safety.
- Manage the complex care of critically ill patients, applying critical care theory and best practices to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Calculate, titrate, and administer medications, IV solutions, and skin testing, per policy and procedure.
- Manage ventilator therapy, including weaning and sedation/analgesia, as well as dialysis therapy responsibilities, including hemodialysis and CAPD.
- Perform arterial blood gas sampling, initiate and maintain invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and operate monitoring equipment for ICP monitoring.
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, documenting medications, vital signs, and patient response.
- Provide wound prevention and care, including pressure ulcer, arterial and venous stasis ulcer, and surgical wounds.
- Initiate IV therapy, monitor and maintain venous access, and demonstrate care and maintenance of central venous access devices.
- Provide respiratory support, including pulse oximetry, suctioning, and wall and portable oxygen therapy.
- Maintain drainage tubes and perform problem-focused physical assessments.
- Customize, edit, and review patient alarms and information, troubleshoot poor waveforms and equipment problems, and assign transmitters as needed.
- Perform phlebotomy skills, including blood culture, T&C specimens, and labeling of specimens.
- 1 year of critical care experience preferred or 2-3 years of medical/surgical nursing experience.
- Completion of an approved critical care course and dysrhythmia course.
- ACLS certification.
- CCRN certification preferred.
- BSN or BS/BA degree in Nursing.
- Current RN Pennsylvania state license required.
- Current BCLS required or obtained by completion of orientation.
- ACLS required or obtained by completion of orientation if applicable to area of practice.
