Columbia University seeks a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our Student Service Center team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing primary management for cross-functional services in the areas of registration, billing, and student account payments.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service and Issue Resolution: Provide high-touch customer service and resolution of complex client issues, analyzing and updating student financial and academic records, and resolving problems within registration and billing.
- Issue Investigation and Resolution: Oversee full ownership, investigation, and resolution of various complicated, escalated issues not resolved by the University's third-party vendor using various University systems and tools.
- Hold and Waiver Management: Independently evaluate and determine the removal and application of appropriate holds and waivers of any associated student account-related fees as determined by University policy or appropriate escalation to senior management.
- Strategic Relationship Building: Build and develop strategic working relationships with schools, academic advisors, and other University colleagues to define areas where the SSC can be of additional assistance and support for the user community.
- Representation and Communication: Represent the Office of the University Registrar at presentations and conferences to showcase the SSC vision, mission, and technologies, and develop presentations to be given at University events.
- Reporting and Analytics: Provide updates, statistics, and reports to leadership on incident volume and resolution, and assist in identifying opportunities to streamline and improve processes.
- FERPA Requests: Independently manage the facilitation of FERPA requests to inspect and review educational records.
- Special Projects: Perform special projects and other related job duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree and Experience: Bachelor's degree, plus a minimum of four years related experience, required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Higher education experience, experience within a Registrar, Bursar, Financial Advising or Financial Aid Office, or experience in other large, complex organizations preferred.
- Skills and Abilities: Solid analytical background and comfort with using data and information to create specific analysis to identify trends and resolve complex customer issues effectively, strong financial acumen, highly detail-oriented, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
