RWJBarnabas Health is actively seeking a skilled Emergency Medicine Physician to take on the role of Chief for our Observation Unit/Rapid Decision Unit (RDU).

The Department of Emergency Medicine at RWJBarnabas Health is looking for a full-time Emergency Medicine Physician to step into the position of Chief for our Observation Unit/Rapid Decision Unit (RDU).

The Chief will oversee the administrative management of all medical operations conducted in the RDU, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards, and supervising all medical staff in accordance with their designated roles.

Our Department of Emergency Medicine is home to a comprehensive 3-year residency program and an Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship. Faculty members are involved in all facets of medical education for students and residents. The Emergency Department at RWJBarnabas Health handles an annual patient volume of 73,000.

This position presents an excellent opportunity for a dedicated physician to join a well-established, multidisciplinary team, supported by a robust staff, including advanced practice providers and scribes, to deliver exceptional care within an academic setting.

Key responsibilities will encompass managing and providing clinical services exclusively within the observation unit, mentoring and supervising physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical students, and Emergency Medicine residents, as well as coordinating clinical services.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure in New Jersey
  • American Board of Emergency Medicine Eligible/Certified
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a solid clinical foundation
  • Prior leadership experience, program development, and/or teaching experience is preferred
