Position Overview: We are seeking an Insurance Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in reviewing and resolving outstanding insurance balances associated with hospital or physician patient accounts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability in learning complex hospital systems and possess strong analytical skills to determine the best course of action for resolving aged account receivables.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform general office tasks such as filing, scanning, printing, and data entry to support fellow insurance specialists.
  2. Meet assigned objectives related to resolutions, account review quality, and productivity standards.
  3. Develop a working knowledge of hospital systems, internal processes, and Microsoft Office applications.
  4. Quickly learn new systems and develop proficient operational skills.
  5. Understand and follow both oral and written directives.
  6. Prioritize responsibilities effectively to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  7. Execute tasks with meticulous attention to detail.
  8. Utilize the company telephone system efficiently for both outbound and inbound communications.

Account Management:

  1. Conduct thorough research on accounts and navigate them through the appropriate client workflows.
  2. Ensure timely follow-up on assigned accounts.
  3. Document findings in detail and prepare requests for adjustments or reviews as necessary.
  4. Communicate effectively with insurance providers to facilitate payments.
  5. Understand the necessary steps to resolve insurance balances.
  6. Maintain strong communication skills to relay complex account information.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  1. Ensure all accounts are managed in accordance with client standards and federal regulations.
  2. Maintain high-quality account handling practices.
  3. Adhere to federal and state regulations, as well as company compliance policies.
  4. Document all interactions and attempts made for accounts accurately.

Professional Development:

  1. Stay informed about federal and state regulations governing collections and phone communications, including HIPAA and FDCPA.
  2. Participate in training sessions as directed by management.
  3. Incorporate new information from training into daily operations promptly.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (additional experience may substitute for education).
  2. Minimum of 6 months experience in a related field (additional education may substitute for experience).
  3. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to type at least 38 words per minute.
  5. Flexibility in handling job responsibilities.
  6. Familiarity with commonly used patient accounting software.
