Position Overview: Under close supervision, the Food Service Associate is responsible for preparing and organizing serving areas and dining spaces within the college's dining facilities. This role involves serving meals to patrons, managing leftover food items, and ensuring cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas at the end of each shift. Additionally, assistance with daily catering tasks is required.
Required Qualifications:
- No formal education or prior experience necessary.
- Six months of relevant experience in food service operations or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Previous food service experience in an institutional setting is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of sanitation practices and cleanliness standards.
- Willingness to learn proper food handling and protection techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts and potential overtime.
- Commitment to diversity and serving a varied population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport trays and containers of food and supplies from the kitchen to the dining area.
- Stock and organize food items, utensils, and supplies at serving stations.
- Serve food to patrons, including salads, entrees, and beverages, as per customer requests.
- Prepare hot and cold beverages as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of tables and dining areas according to sanitation protocols.
- Operate cash register to process customer transactions accurately.
- Monitor cash drawer and ensure proper handling of payments.
- Assist with catering orders by preparing and packaging food items as per specifications.
- Set up dining areas for events and serve food and beverages to guests.
Additional Duties:
Perform other related tasks as assigned to support the overall operations of the dining services.
