Job Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Burns & McDonnell, you will lead mechanical design project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across various industries including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities. This role requires a strong leader who can adapt mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in standard engineering techniques and procedures, with a strong knowledge of mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE) and computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). They will also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as experience leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design project teams to create world-class designs
• Adapt mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs
• Prepare mechanical equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQs), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations
• Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 7 years of mechanical engineering experience, EPC project experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE) and computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year
