Job Title: Speech, Language, and Hearing Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech, Language, and Hearing Therapist to join our team at St. Landry Parish School Board. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in speech pathology, language development, and hearing impairments.

Job Summary:

The Speech, Language, and Hearing Therapist will be responsible for providing individualized and group therapy sessions to students with speech, language, and hearing impairments. The therapist will work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement effective treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments and diagnoses of speech, voice, language, and hearing impairments.
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) to meet the needs of students with speech, language, and hearing handicaps.
  • Provide individualized and group therapy sessions on a weekly basis.
  • Consult with parents and teachers to ensure effective carryover of therapy goals and techniques.
  • Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech, language, and hearing impairments.
  • Provide screening and referrals to agencies and specialists in the community.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve as a consultant to faculty studies.
  • Assume additional duties as assigned by the Administrator of the Speech, Language and Hearing Program.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Speech Pathology or related field.
  • Valid certification in Speech Pathology.
  • Experience working with students with speech, language, and hearing impairments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:

The Speech, Language, and Hearing Therapist will work in a school setting, providing services to students with speech, language, and hearing impairments. The therapist will be required to travel between schools and attend meetings and training sessions as needed.

Accountability:

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the board's policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
