Job Summary

A Physician Assistant provides high-quality patient care services under the supervision of a licensed physician. This role involves performing routine medical tasks, taking medical histories, and making preliminary diagnoses. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine patients, take medical histories, and record results
  • Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and blood work, and interpret test results
  • Develop and implement patient care plans, instruct and counsel patients, and record progress
  • Prescribe medications, as allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations
  • Triage patient calls and provide consultation
  • Accurately and timely report treatment and patient information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Requirements
  • Completion of a four-year accredited physician assistant baccalaureate program and a year of clinical training, or
  • Completion of a two-year accredited physician assistant program (which, in turn, requires two years of undergraduate study) plus two years of clinical training following completion of PA program
  • State accreditation based on certifying exam
  • Continued employment requires 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and passing a recertification examination every 6 years
  • Experience in orthopedic field preferred
  • Experience with complex trauma patients preferred
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Employee is frequently required to use hands, fingers to handle or feel, as well as sit and work on a computer. Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pushing and pulling are also possible physical activities that may be required when assisting with patient care. Ability to handle Light work is required (exerting up to 20 pounds).
