Gears and Clutches Specialist

A skilled Gears and Clutches Specialist is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of complex vehicle transmissions. This role requires in-depth knowledge of transmission systems, including gears, clutches, torque converters, and hydraulic systems.

This position involves conducting thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to identify transmission problems using advanced equipment and technical manuals.

The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools specific to transmission repair.

Key Responsibilities:

• Disassemble, clean, and inspect transmission components to determine the extent of damage or wear.
• Perform rebuilds or overhauls of transmissions by replacing worn or damaged parts according to manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain proper lubrication and cooling of transmission components by performing fluid flushes, fluid level checks, and filter replacements as needed.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic components related to transmission systems, such as solenoids, sensors, wiring harnesses, and control modules using scan tools and diagnostic software.
• Document all repairs, parts used, and diagnostic findings accurately using repair manuals, service bulletins, and electronic service records.
• Perform quality control checks to ensure that transmission repairs meet industry standards and manufacturer specifications.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a certified automotive technology program or apprenticeship
• Previous experience as a transmission technician or related field

Estimated Salary: $72,500 - $92,500 per year, depending on location and experience.
