Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Bakery Operations Specialist to join our team at Northgate Markets. As a key member of our bakery team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our bakery department, including managing inventory, maintaining high-quality products, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage inventory levels and ensure accurate ordering of ingredients and supplies
  • Maintain a clean and organized bakery environment, adhering to health and safety standards
  • Prepare and bake a variety of products, including bread, pastries, and cakes
  • Operate bakery equipment, including mixers, ovens, and fryers
  • Assist with receiving and unloading merchandise, verifying inventory and checking products for quality
  • Rotate inventory to ensure oldest products are sold first
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties, including lifting heavy objects
  • Monitor product sales and adjust production accordingly to meet customer demand
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives

Requirements and Conditions:

  • High school education preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of one year experience in full bakery operations and procedures
  • Health department training required
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, verify vendor invoice charges, and complete accounting reports
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English effectively
  • Ability to pass a standard drug test and qualify as being drug-free under the legal and medical guidelines permitted by the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988

Physical Demands and Work Conditions:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Occasionally exert or lift up to 70 pounds carrying bulk containers of flour, sugar, lard, and other materials
  • Successful performance requires specific vision abilities, including close vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to climb a ladder to retrieve inaccessible items from overhead or elevated storage shelves and racks
  • Ability to work with bakery ingredients and spices, including finely powdered substances, meat products, and produce
