Key Responsibilities
- Conduct therapeutic and diagnostic procedures to produce quality images for interpretation by radiologists and physicians.
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment that detects and maps radioactive substances within patients to generate diagnostic images.
- Accurately position patients and select appropriate anatomical and technical factors.
- Order, prepare, administer, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals following established protocols.
- Adhere to radiation safety standards and procedures.
- Ensure timely submission of high-quality images and documentation to the PACS system, including proper lead markers and patient data/history.
- Report any equipment issues or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel and ensure proper maintenance of a clean and organized department.
Qualifications
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
- One or more of the following credentials required:
- Nuclear Medical Tech credential from the Indiana Medical Radiology Services Program
- Nuclear Medical Tech credential from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Radiologic Technologist specializing in Nuclear Medicine credential from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Education:
- High School diploma with 2 years of cumulative experience, or an Associate's/Technical degree, or 4 years of relevant job-specific experience required.
