Job Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the internal and external facilities of the GEODIS Group are maintained to the highest standards. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office spaces to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Empty trash and garbage containers to prevent odors and pest infestations.
  • Identify and report needed repairs, such as roof leaks and damaged dock shelters, to management.
  • Replace air conditioner filters to ensure optimal air quality.
  • Notify management of the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
  • Maintain pest control devices and apply pesticides, rodenticides, and herbicides as needed.
  • Clean offices, restrooms, and break rooms to maintain a healthy and productive work environment.
  • Mow lawns and trim shrubbery to maintain a visually appealing exterior.
  • Operate a tow motor to move a hopper as needed.
  • Check pump houses to ensure proper functioning.
  • Paint fire lanes to maintain safety standards.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers to ensure they are fully functional.
  • Maintain walkways and sidewalks to prevent tripping hazards.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 months of related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Work Environment:

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, and to talk and hear. The employee may be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch to complete job duties. The employee may be required to occasionally lift up to 60 pounds. The employee will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to extreme heat and cold.
