POSITION TITLE: Registered Nurse - Full Time Clinic Role

DEPARTMENT: Behavioral Health Services Clinics

SUPERVISOR: Nurse Manager, Health Services

SALARY GRADE: 82 - $38.30 (based on qualifications and experience)

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Clinic Nurse is responsible for enhancing the health and wellness of clients at the Villa of Hope Behavioral Health Clinics, ensuring care is delivered in compliance with relevant regulations.

The Clinic Nurse may also assist in onboarding new staff and provide mentorship to nursing students. This role requires a commitment to the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to the Justice Center's Code of Conduct for Individuals with Special Needs.
  • Comply with Agency policies, procedures, and applicable Federal and State laws.
  • Conduct nursing assessments for new clients, including obtaining vital signs and relevant health metrics.
  • Complete assessments for communicable diseases.
  • Gather health and psychiatric records and monitor health data.
  • Document nursing information accurately in an electronic health record system.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by a Nurse Practitioner or Physician and manage pharmacy deliveries.
  • Oversee the medication preauthorization process and secure necessary approvals.
  • Utilize Villa of Hope documentation systems effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by clinic leadership.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Provide ongoing assessments, evaluations, triage, and education for clients with substance use and mental health challenges.

ROLE-SPECIFIC TASKS:

  • Follow guidelines set by the NYS Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services and the NYS Office of Mental Health Services.
  • Manage medication requests and verify the status of controlled substances.
  • Respond to pharmacy inquiries and manage prior authorization requests.
  • Administer and document treatments such as Sublocade and Vivitrol.
  • Coordinate refill requests with specialty pharmacies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for medications received.
  • Ensure proper documentation for medication disposal.
  • Prepare lab requests for urine analysis.
  • Conduct health screenings for new clients.
  • Address urgent medical needs of clients and staff in the clinic.

Assist clients in navigating healthcare systems:

  • Support clients with Medicaid recertification and provide necessary information.
  • Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners to submit school-related documentation.
  • Manage clinic inventory of medical supplies.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings regularly.
  • Facilitate orientation for new nursing staff.
  • Organize annual training sessions on medications with pharmacy representatives.
  • Provide on-call triage support for residential programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing and walking are essential throughout the shift, including navigating various terrains.
  • Regular lifting of items up to twenty pounds is necessary.
  • Bending and kneeling are required for patient care and equipment operation.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Current NYS RN licensure.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • At least one year of post-licensure nursing experience, ideally in psychiatric or substance use disorder settings.
  • Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing is preferred.

Skills:

  • CPR/First Aid and BLS certification.
  • Narcan training is advantageous.
  • Proficient in electronic medical record systems and basic nursing skills.
  • Ability to travel between different clinic locations as needed.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Outlook.
